Pilates exercises require you to be focused on what you are doing. For this reason, you should always aim to exercise in a place and at a time when you can be sure you will not be disturbed by people or noises. This does not mean that you have to exercise in total silence, you can definitely play some music and follow the rhythm.
You will also need to make a space in which to do your ‘Pilates at home’ session. Find an area in your home that can be used without you having to move half the furniture around before you are able to start, otherwise, you will be discouraged.
When you choose to practice is up to you. Some people believe that it is better to exercise later in the day because the muscles have already been warmed up. On the other hand, by waiting until later you may get so caught up in daily activities that you decide to postpone your Pilates session until tomorrow, then the day after that and so on.
In our programs, the start of each of our classes is designed to warm up your body and muscles anyway, so that you don’t need to perform a separate a warm-up routine. You will not require any special clothing, just wear something light and comfortable that does not restrict your movement.
